ORDER: (per the Hon’ble the Chief Justice Sri Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta)
We are of the view that at this stage the Court will not issue any mandatory order. We will only direct the respondents – Collectors to examine the issue raised by the petitioner in this petition whether such races are permissible or not. A copy of this petition shall be treated as a representation of the petitioner and the same shall be considered and an appropriate decision shall be taken, after hearing the petitioner, within eight weeks from the date of communication of this order.
Let a copy of the petition and certified copy of this order be forwarded to the respondents – Collectors.
The public interest litigation is accordingly disposed of. No order as to costs.
