The petitioner as pro bono publico approached this Court espousing the cause of Safai Karmacharis contending that unless the Chairman of the State Commission for Safai Karmacharis is appointed, the grievances of the Safai Karmacharis will not be attended to and they will be helpless. Subsequent to filing of this petition, by notification dated 10th January 2017 issued in terms of sub-sections (2) of section 3 of the Maharashtra State Commission for Safai Karmacharis Act, 1997, one Shri Ramu Suvalal Pawar is appointed as Chairperson of the Maharashtra State Commission for

Safai Karmacharis for a period of three years. It is also indicated in the affidavit-in-reply filed by the State that from 25th January 2017 Mr.Ramu Pawar has taken charge as Chairperson and is regularly attending to the work of the Commission.
