The present petition has been filed for a direction upon the Board to consider appointing the petitioner institution as an examination centre in the forthcoming Board Examinations, 2018.
Learned Standing Counsel, who represents the Board, has informed the Court that already final list of examination centres has been published and examinations are to commence from 01st week of February, 2018, therefore it would not be possible now to consider the claim of the petitioner institution as an examination centre for the forthcoming examination.
Ordinarily, examination centres are fixed well in advance to ensure that there are no last minute complications in holding the examination. Even otherwise, no institution can claim as of right that it be appointed Examination Centre.
In view of the above, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the claim of the petitioner, this petition is disposed of with liberty to the petitioner to stake claim in the next Board Examination, at the appropriate stage, in accordance with law.
