Prayer in this application is for amendment of the memo of parties as it has been stated that inadvertently, respondent No.1 was wrongly mentioned as State of Punjab through Secretary, Home Affairs & Justice Department, Civil Secretariat, Punjab, Chandigarh, whereas it should have been State of Punjab through Secretary, Department of Irrigation, Civil Secretariat, Punjab, Chandigarh.

For the reasons mentioned in the application, prayer made in the same is accepted. Amended memo of parties along with the application is taken on record. Registry is directed to place the same at the appropriate stage of the case.

Petitioner has approached this court with a prayer that a direction may be issued to the respondents to consider his claim for promotion to the post of Sub Divisional Officer from the date he attained eligibility, i.e., 24.10.1997 and thereafter to re-fix the seniority accordingly.

It has been asserted that although the claim of the petitioner has been forwarded by the competent authorities to respondent No.1-Secretary, Department of Irrigation, Punjab, but no decision thereon has been taken till date. Reference has been made to the communication dated 12.3.2013 (Annexure P-9), whereby the case of the petitioner stands forwarded by the Chief Engineer/RSD (Construction), Irrigation Department, Punjab-respondent No.2 to the Principal Secretary, Irrigation Department, Punjab-respondent No.1, but that also has not solicited any response.

Counsel contends that the petitioner, at this stage, would be satisfied if a direction is issued to Secretary, Irrigation Department, Punjab-respondent No.1 to finalise the claim of the petitioner within some specified time.

In view of the statement made by the counsel for the petitioner and without going into the merit of the case or commenting thereon, the present writ petition is disposed of with directions to Secretary, Irrigation Department, Punjab-respondent No.1 to finalise the claim of the petitioner within a period of two months from the date
