This writ petition has been filed with a prayer that directions be issued to the official respondents to stop operation of Charkol Kilns being run by respondent No.5 in the residential area in Gidderbaha district Sri Muktsar Sahib. To say that by running kilns environment is being polluted reference has been made to a letter dated 8.11.2011 written by the Environmental Engineer to the Senior Environmental Engineer, Punjab Pollution Control Board, Zonal Office, Bathinda to take necessary action. In that letter it is stated that on checking it was noticed that the smoke omitted on running of the kilns is causing air pollution and further that the industry has not obtained No Objection Certificate from the Pollution Control Board to run the same. It is grievance of the petitioner that despite above letter no action has been taken by the officer concerned.
Under the circumstances, we dispose of this writ petition by issuing directions to the Senior Environmental Engineer, Punjab Pollution Control Board, Zonal Office, Bathinda to take appropriate action in the

matter in pursuance of letter dated 8.11.2011 (P5) written by the Environmental Engineer to him within a period of one month. He is directed to afford an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner as well as respondent No.5 before passing any order. If need be, the matter may be referred to the Punjab Pollution Control Board for necessary action.
