Heard Mr. Satpathy, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr. Patnaik, learned Addl. Standing Counsel through video conferencing mode.
According to Mr. Satpathy, the petitioner is aggrieved by the inaction of the authorities more particularly the Registrar, Birth and Death, Jagatsinghpur Municipality, Jagatsinghpur (opposite party no.2) in correcting the first name or surname of the petitioner. He further submits that though highlighting all these problems, the mother of the petitioner has given a representation on 9.2.2021 before the Registrar, Birth and Death, Jagatsinghpur Municipality, Jagatsinghpur (opposite party no.2) under Annexure-2, however, till date nothing has been done in the matter. In such background, he prays that a direction be issued to the said opposite party to take a decision on the above noted representation under Annexure-2 within a specific time period.
Considering the submissions made and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, this Court directs the opposite party no.2 to take a decision on the above noted representation of the petitioner strictly in accordance with law within a period of four weeks and communicate the result of such exercise to the petitioner.
The writ application is accordingly disposed of.
Mr. Satpathy undertakes to pay deficit court fee and Advocates Welfare Fund Fees within a week after normal functioning of the Court is resumed.
