. The letter dated 1st November 2008 addressed by the B.D.D. Chawl/B.I.T. Chawl Redevelopment Seva Samiti was ordered to
be treated as a Public Interest Litigation by an order dated 15th December 2008. We have perused the letter which is treated as PIL. The letter expresses an apprehension that as the locality in which the B.D.D. and B.I.T. Chawls are situated has now become a prime locality, the persons having vested interest therein and connected with the political parties and builders may try to take over the project of redevelopment of the said chawls. Prayer in the said letter is that necessary directions be issued to the State Government to take up the issue in Assembly and to decide the matter of enhancing FSI for cluster development and also additional incentives for additional redevelopment.
