An issue cropped up during the course of argument as to whether the Government Officer / Contemnor in the contempt matter can engage a private counsel other than the Government Counsel to defend himself, as the learned Additional Chief Standing Counsel has submitted that in this regard an order has been issued by the Law Secretary that a private counsel can be engaged with the permission / approval of the learned Advocate General.
Learned Additional Chief Standing Counsel prays for and is granted three days' time to furnish / place the order issued by the Law Secretary regarding engaging some private counsel by the Government Officer and also inform is there any provision to pass such an order.
