COMMON ORDER: (per the Hon’ble the Acting Chief Justice Sri Pinaki Chandra Ghose)
We have heard the learned counsel for the parties.
It appears, the Government has already framed a policy with regard to the issue raised in all these petitions.
Since the policy has already been framed by the Government, it is the duty of the Government to give effect to the said policy, which has been framed by it. But, the only endeavour of the Court is to see that the said policy is implemented by the Government within a time frame. Therefore, we grant four months time to the Government to take necessary steps to implement the policy so framed by it or to be framed by it.
We do not think that it is necessary for us to pass any further order in these matters in view of the fact that the Government has specifically stated about the maintenance of the minimum water level in the respective reservoirs.
The Public Interest Litigations are accordingly disposed of.
