This contempt petition has been filed alleging that the Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala has not decided the petitioner’s representation so far as was directed by this Court on 1.2.2012 in CWP No.1859 of 2012.

It is not in dispute that under the Punjab Co-operative Societies Act, 1961, a Deputy Commissioner has got no power to interfere in the affairs of a co-operative society. Faced with this, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the Joint Registrar, Co-operative Societies, Kapurthala has already held an enquiry and submitted his report to the Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala. It is stated that the Joint Registrar, Co-operative Society has already directed the Assistant Registrar, Co-operative Societies,

Kapurthala to take an appropriate action, but no such steps have been taken so far.

This contempt petition is accordingly disposed of with a direction to the Assistant Registrar, Co-operative Society, Kapurthala to dispose of the matter statedly pending before him as early as possible but not later than two months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.
