(1). The petitioners are working as PR Chowkidars in the Department of Food and Supplies, Government of Punjab. They seek a direction for regularization of their services.

(2). The respondents have filed their reply/affidavit explaining that as and when the regular vacancy arises, the services of the PR Chowkidars are being regularized as per the seniority.

(3). Ms. Sudeepti Sharma, learned DAG Punjab states that irrespective of the status of the PR Chowkidars, the pensionary benefits are being granted to them on retirement.

(4). Having heard learned counsel for the petitioner, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents

that as and when regular posts become available, the services of the petitioners shall be regularized against such posts by following the principle of seniority irrespective of the directions obtained by a PR Chowkidar separately in his favour, if such PR chowkidar is otherwise not entitled to regularization of his services as per seniority. The retiral benefits shall be released to the petitioners on the premise as if they were ‘regular employee’ for this limited purpose.
