Mr. Sudhir Nehra, Additional Advocate General, Punjab appears on behalf of State of Punjab.
It is another case where a couple, who married against the wishes of their parents, has sought Police protection on the premise that they apprehend danger to their lives.
While it is true that honour killings take place and such couples are harassed to the extreme due to medieval mindset of the parents, police protection is not to be ordered in each and every case or merely for the asking.
An application has already been moved before the Senior Superintendent of Police, Fazilka, so, for the time being the Senior Superintendent of Police is directed to take appropriate action if warranted on the application (Annexure P5) without delay.
Disposed of accordingly.
