Saroj Rani & Anr. Vs State of Punjab & Ors.

Saroj Rani and Jasbir have filed this petition under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for issuance of directions to respondents No.2 and 3 to protect their life and liberty from the hands of respondents No.4 to 8.

Petitioner no.1, who is present in the Court, has stated that she has performed marriage with petitioner No.2-Jasbir and she wants to live with him. Respondents No.4 and 5 are present in the Court and have stated that they have serious objections qua the marriage of the petitioners. In fact, no such marriage as alleged by the petitioners has taken place. Petitioners have moved a representation (Annexure P-4) to Senior Superintendent of Police, Nawanshahar (respondent No.2) seeking protection of their life and liberty, but the said representation has not been decided so far.

Accordingly, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, Senior Superintendent of Police, Nawanshahar (respondent No.2) is directed to look into the representation (Annexure P-4) made by the petitioners and dispose of the same in accordance with law after hearing the petitioners as well as the private respondents.
