Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and

learned counsel for the respondents.

From the office report dated 29.07.2026, it appears that the Office has pointed out a defect to the effect that the present matter relates to criminal jurisdiction and, on that ground, the case has been listed under the heading “For Orders on Office Notes”. Considering the nature of the defect, the same is ignored.

Learned counsel for the petitioner, referring to paragraphs 9 to 11 of the counter affidavit filed on behalf of

respondent nos. 3 to 5, submits that the fine amount of Rs. 26,000/- has been deposited with the South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited and the receipt thereof has also been received by the petitioner.

Learned counsel for the South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited submits that since the fine amount has already been deposited, the petitioner may be directed to file an application for release of the vehicle in accordance with law.

Accordingly, the present writ application stands disposed of with a direction that the petitioner shall file an appropriate application before the competent authority for release of the vehicle within a period of two weeks. Upon filing of such application, and if there is no other legal impediment, the vehicle shall be released after completion of the requisite legal formalities in accordance with law.
