The petitioner's son was working as III Grade Overseer under the Kerala Water Authority. He died in harness on 30.6.2011. Subsequently, the petitioner filed Ext.P6 application for family pension. It is the delay in the matter of consideration and granting of family pension that constrained the petitioner to file the captioned writ petition.

I have heard the learned counsel for the petitioner, the learned standing counsel appearing for respondents 2 to 5 and also the learned Government Pleader.

The learned standing counsel appearing for respondents 2 to 5 submitted that Ext.P6 application has been received by the 5^th respondent and after processing the same the eligibility for family pension of the petitioner would be decided expeditiously. In the said circumstances, without making any observation as to the merits of the contentions this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the 5^th respondent to take appropriate steps on Ext.P6 application submitted by
