J U D G M E N T

The petitioners are aggrieved by the prescription of the last date for submission of application for admission to Higher Secondary Plus One Course as 20.5.2010 on the ground that it would deny opportunity to students from NIOS stream and also CBSC and CISCE to get admission to Plus One course during this academic year. Based on the aforesaid apprehension, this writ petition is filed mainly with the prayer to issue a writ of mandamus or any other writ, direction or order commanding the respondents 1 to 3 to postpone the last date prescribed in Ext.P1 for accepting application to the aforesaid course so as to enable the petitioner and similarly situated students to apply for admission to the Plus One course in the academic year 2010-2011.

A statement has been filed in this writ petition by the 3^rd respondent. It is stated therein as hereunder:

Last year also almost 4 lakhs applications were received. Out of these, 95% applications were from State Stream and the remaining 5% were from ICSE, CBSE etc. This year also 2^nd respondent is expecting

the same. Any how the students similar to that of the petitioners will get a chance to apply for the supplementary allotment and that too along with the SAY students. During last year 24000 students got admission through the supplementary allotment. Only 2888 students applied through the CBSE Stream.

Based on the above extracted portion it is submitted that this academic year also persons like the petitioners would be given chance to apply for admission to the Plus One Course during the supplementary allotment along with students who came out successful in the SAY examination. This is recorded and the Writ Petition is accordingly closed.
