The petitioners’ case in brief is that they have taken part in the selection process for filling up the post of Constables in Assam Police, in pursuance to the advertisement dated 25.04.2018, issued by the respondent No.3. Being aggrieved with their non-selection in the said selection process, the petitioners have filed the present writ petition.
The affidavit-in-opposition filed by the respondent No.4 states that the petitioner No.1, who belongs to the OBC category secured 24.84 marks in Physical Efficiency Test (PET), while the cut off marks in Baksa district for OBC male category for Armed Branch Police was 30.16 marks and for Unarmed Branch Police, it was 31.84 marks. The petitioner No.2, who belongs to the SC category, had secured 26.19 marks in Physical Efficiency Test (PET), the cut off marks in Baksa district for SC male category for Armed Branch Police was 27.81 and for Un-armed Branch, it was 31.08 marks.
As the petitioners have not secured the cut off marks required for selection and appointment to the post of Constables in Assam Police, this Court does not find any ground to entertain the writ petition any further.
The writ petition is accordingly dismissed.
