Heard Mr. S. Rana, learned counsel for the petitioner. Also heard Mr. D. Bora, learned counsel for all the respondents.

2. The petitioner’s case is that the petitioner filed an application for compassionate appointment, after his father, who was working as Constable in the Assam Police died in harness on 30.03.2016. The petitioner’s counsel submits that the District Level Committee (DLC), Chirang recommended the petitioner’s application for compassionate appointment and had forwarded the same to the State Level Committee (SLC) for consideration, vide File No. CHRPE4/2008-09/Vol-I/471 dated 04.02.2017. He submits that the SLC has not considered the petitioner’s application till date. He accordingly submits that the writ petition can be disposed of, if a direction is issued to the SLC to consider the petitioner’s application for compassionate appointment in its next meeting.

3. Mr. D. Bora, learned counsel for the State respondents submits that he has got no objection to the prayer made by the petitioner’s counsel, subject to the condition that the petitioner’s application has not been considered by the SLC earlier.

4. On the oral prayer of Mr. S. Rana, learned counsel for the petitioner, the SLC headed by the Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam is impleaded as

respondent No. 6.

5. Registry to make necessary correction to the cause title.

6. Mr. D. Bora, learned counsel accepts notice on behalf of the respondent No. 6.

7. In view of the consent of the parties, the SLC is directed to consider the petitioner’s application for compassionate appointment in its next meeting, if the same has been recommended by the DLC. The above is subject to the condition that the petitioner’s application has not been considered earlier by the SLC. If the SLC has considered the petitioner’s application for compassionate appointment earlier, the decision taken should be communicated to the petitioner.

8. Writ petition is accordingly disposed of.
