Mr. H. Buragohain, learned counsel representing the writ petitioner submits that the period of settlement involved in this proceeding has already expired and therefore, the writ petition has become infructuous in so far as the relief prayed for by the petitioner is concerned.
I have also heard Mr. M. Nath, learned Standing counsel for the P & RD Department, Assam appearing for the respondent no.1 and Ms. D. D. Barman, learned Government Advocate, Assam appearing for the respondents no.3 and 4. Mr. D. Gogoi, learned counsel appears for the respondents no.6 and 7 and Mr. N.N.B.
