These petitions are filed on behalf of the Petitioner under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (‘1996 Act’) seeking extension of mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal.

Disputes having arisen between the parties in relation to Contracts for providing security services to the Respondent, Petitioner approached this Court for appointment of Arbitrator in ARB.P. 181/2014 and vide judgment dated 16.03.2018, this Court appointed a Sole Arbitrator. From time to time, mandate of the learned Arbitrator was extended by this Court. These petitions have been filed for extension of the mandate by a period of one month to enable the learned Arbitrator to pronounce and publish the Award. 5. Learned counsel for the Petitioner submits that this Court vide order dated 02.12.2024 had extended the mandate in O.M.P.(MISC.)(COMM.) 937/2024 and O.M.P.(MISC.)(COMM.) 938/2024 by a period of 04 months, which had expired on 28.11.2024. It is further submitted that after the expiry of the mandate, O.M.P.(MISC.)(COMM.) 284/2025 and O.M.P.(MISC.)(COMM.) 286/2025 were filed for extension, however, inadvertently the order dated 28.03.2025 does not mention the period of extension and hence, these petitions are filed by way of abundant caution.

has no objection to the extension of mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal. 8. Learned counsels for the parties jointly submit that the arbitral proceedings are at the stage of pronouncement and publishing of the award and therefore, mandate of the Arbitrator be extended by one month. 9. Accordingly, with the consent of the parties, mandate of the learned Arbitrator is extended by one month from 05.05.2025 for pronouncing and publishing the Award and period between 29.03.2025 to 04.05.2025 is regularised.

Petitions are allowed and disposed of in the aforesaid terms.
