Heard the learned counsel for the parties.

The learned Counsel for Respondent Nos.1 and 2 states that the Petitioner’s application for issuance of passport has lapsed and the Petitioner will have to make a fresh application which will be decided on its own merits. The learned counsel also points out that if the decision of the application is adverse to the Petitioner, the Petitioner has a remedy of an appeal under the Passports Act 1967.

The learned counsel for the Petitioner states that since

almost a year now the Petitioner is without passport and if any application is made the same be decided early. The request made is reasonable.

If the Petitioner makes an application in the prescribed format for issuance of the passport within a period of two weeks from today, the same shall be decided by Respondent No.2 within a period of four weeks thereafter, communicating the decision to the petitioner. Needless to state that if the decision is adverse to the Petitioner, the Petitioner has his remedy open.

The Writ Petition is accordingly disposed of.
