1] The Petition questions a Government Resolution dated 21st September 2017 shifting families comprising upto two members from Antyoday Anna Yojana to the Pradhanya Scheme. Families governed by Antyoday Anna Yojana Scheme are allotted 35 kg grains per month and those under the Pradhanya Yojana Scheme 5 kg grains for each member of the family per month. The contention advanced is that transferring family which was getting 35 kg grains to only 5 kg or 10 kg depending upon family being one or two is unreasonable.

2] We do not think so. The Antyoday Anna Yojana Scheme contemplated families with more than two persons. Surely, a family comprising one individual would not be a family so called and comprising two members 35 kg grains per month would be excessive.
3] Thus, while dismissing the Petition we leave the issue open for the Petitioner to re-agitate if with respect to calories need of the body it could be projected that 5 kg grains per month per individual is less.
