By this petition, it is prayed that direction be issued to the Local

Police Station to register First Information Report against the private respondents in connection with the complaint made by the petitioners regarding offence of extortion and threat to life given to the petitioners. Learned A.P.P. submits that the Local Police Station would be Thane Railway Police Station.

We are in agreement with the submission that the grievance in the petition is that the private respondents exerted threats of extortion and threat to life to the petitioners in the past. Accordingly, without

going into the correctness of the stand of the petitioners, we would dispose of the petition with liberty to the petitioners to approach Senior Police Inspector of Thane Railway Police Station, who, in turn shall record statements of the petitioners and if the same discloses cognizable offence, would proceed in the matter, in accordance with law. In other words, if the statements given by the petitioners discloses commission of cognizable offence, the concerned Police Officer would be obliged to register F.I.R. and proceed against the named persons in accordance with law. The petitioners may present themselves before the Senior Police Inspector of Thane Railway Police Station between 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on 28^th February, 2011 for recording of their statements so

that the concerned Police Officer can proceed in the matter, in accordance with law.

Petition is disposed of on the above terms.
