This is an application made by the Executive Engineer of

National Highway, Division No. 6. The applicant proposed to carry out

road widening of National Highway No. 6 from Pune to Solapur as sanctioned by the Central Government. It is stated in the application that the applicant would be required to cut the trees which may come within the project. It is submitted that there will be three trees replanted for every one tree cut for the purpose of the said project. The applicants have annexed a plan denoting the extent of road widening and the trees which would be affected by green and black dots. The applicant has applied to the Tree Authority and the matter was referred to the Expert Committee which has granted their approval. The approval granted by the expert committee. The applicant also have clearance from the Forest Department is taken on record and marked

Forest Department and, therefore, they seek that the respondent nos. 4 and 5 be directed to grant them permission to cut the trees as proposed. The applicant has given undertaking to this Court to comply with the recommendation of the Expert Committee. The Court accepts the undertaking and allows the application in terms of prayer clause (a). The application stands disposed of accordingly.
