Heard Sri Venkat Reddy, Learned Counsel appearing on behalf of Sri Raja Reddy Koneti, Learned Counsel for the Writ Petitioner and Sri N. Pavan Kumar, Learned Counsel appearing for Respondent No.1 and Sri Katta Sudhkar, Learned Counsel appearing for Respondent No.2 and Sri Rizwan Ali Shaik, Learned Assistant Government Pleader for Revenue appearing for Respondent No.3.

The case of the Writ Petitioner is that at the time of his birth, he was named as Duggempudi Ekeswara Reddy. Even in the S.S.C Pass Certificate issued by the Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh, the same name is reflected namely Duggempudi Ekeswara Reddy. This Certificate was issued on 10.05.1993.

Thereafter, the Writ Petitioner had changed his name and got the same published in the Official Gazette (Part-II Extraordinary, Published by the Authority) on 16^th October, 2015 (Ex.P1). As per the said Gazette Notification, the Petitioner’s name stood changed from Duggempudi Ekeswara Reddy to Duggempudi Yogeswara Reddy. Since

an objection was raised when the Petitioner wanted to contest in the Elections as regards his name, he has filed the present Writ Petition seeking a declaration.

Sri N. Pavan Kumar, Learned Counsel appearing for the Respondent No.1, on instructions and also as per the Gazette Notification, submits that there is no objection for legally recognising the name of the Petitioner as Sri Duggempudi Yogeswara Reddy.

In this view of the matter, the present Writ Petition is disposed of with a declaration that the Petitioner’s name stood changed from Duggempudi Ekeswara Reddy to Duggempudi Yogeswara Reddy from the date of Gazette Notification dated 16.10.2015 and it shall be so for all legal purposes.

The present Writ Petition is allowed in terms of the above observations. No order as to costs.

Interlocutory Applications, if any, stand closed in terms of this order.
