Heard Sri Aishwarya Pratap Singh along with Sri Nipun Singh, learned counsel for the petitioner and Sri Suryabhan Singh, learned Standing Counsel for the State-Respondents.

At the very outset learned counsel for the petitioner submits that though the application of the petitioner for grant of firearm license has been rejected by the District Magistrate, liberty has been granted to the petitioner to approach the Witness Protection Committee, Gautam Buddh Nagar, headed by the Respondent No.2, District Magistrate, Gautam Buddh Nagar, and file an appropriate application for seeking protection of her life and property. He further submits that the purpose of filing this writ petition would be served if the petitioner may be permitted to file a fresh representation before the Witness Protection Committee, Gautam Buddh Nagar and in turn the Witness Protection Committee may be directed to pass appropriate orders on the representation of the petitioner.

Learned Standing Counsel for the State Respondents has no objection to the aforesaid proposition.

Considering the submissions advanced, this Court is of the opinion that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the writ petition pending and the same is accordingly, disposed of permitting the petitioner to file a fresh representation before the Witness Protection Committee, Gautam Buddh Nagar, headed by the Respondent No.2, District Magistrate, Gautam Buddh Nagar, within a period of two weeks from today. In the eventuality of filing such representation by the petitioner, it is directed that the Witness Protection Committee, Gautam Buddh Nagar shall pass appropriate orders thereon, after considering all aspects of the matter, strictly in accordance with law, preferably within a period of one month from the date of service of a certified copy of this order.

Needless to say that this Court has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the claim of the petitioner and it shall be open for the Witness Protection Committee, Gautam Buddh Nagar, to pass appropriate orders strictly in accordance with law.
