The petitioner has prayed for a mandamus directing respondents 2 and 3 to issue character certificate to him which is required by the petitioner for joining services as a constable.
According to the petitioner, he has applied for grant of character certificate to District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police on 11.02.2022 by registered post, but the said application has not been decided so far.
Learned Standing Counsel points out that a person desirous of obtaining character certificate has to apply on the official portal and manual application is not entertainable.
Having regard to the above submissions, we dispose of the writ petition with liberty to the petitioner to make online application as per the procedure prescribed and in which event the application shall be dealt with in accordance with law expeditiously.
