Section 26. Student's Welfare Officer

26. 1[Students' Welfare Officer].- (1) 2[The Students' Welfare Officer] of each University shall be a whole-time salaried officer of the University and shall be appointed by the Vice-Chancellor on the recommendation of 3[the Recruitment Board] constituted in accordance with the provisions of the Statutes made in that behalf.

(2) 4[The Students' Welfare Officer of each University shall work under the Director of Instruction of the University] and shall be responsible for handling all affairs connected with the students, such as accommodation, scholarship and freeship opportunities, medical facilities, extra-curricular activities, liasion between students and teachers, students counselling, job opportunities, placement of graduates and their other problems.

(3) The 5[Students' Welfare Officer] shall exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as are laid down by or under this Act and as may be prescribed.
