The petitioners have approa c hed this Court seeking issuanc e of a dire c tion to official respondents to p rotect their lives and liberty a s they app r ehend threat to the same at t h e hands of private respondent s having m a rried against the wishes of thei r families.

Without commenting as regards the veracity of th e averment s made in the petition and also as regards the validity of thei r alleged m arriage or age, the petition is disposed of with a direction t o responde n t No.3 i.e. Senior Superintend e nt of Police, Ropar to look int o the matt e r and to dispose of the re p resentation dated 09.09.202 4 (Annexu r e P-5) in accordance with law. I n case, it is found that there is a genuine t h reat to the lives and liberty o f the petitioners, then necessar y steps wa r ranted under law be taken th e reupon at the earliest so as t o ensure th a t no harm is caused to the petiti o ners.

It is, however, clarified that the aforesaid order shall not b e taken to b e any expression as regards th e validity of marriage or age o f the petiti o ners and shall not confer any i m munity upon the petitioners, i n case it is f ound that they have committed any wrong.
