Petitioners have approached this Court with a grievance that they have been assigned the duties of Executive Clerical Cadre, but are being called upon to perform the duties of general constables, which are not the duties and responsibilities of the petitioners as per the order passed by this Court in Letters Patent

Appeal No.456 of 2011 (State of Punjab & others Versus HC

Roshan Lal & others), decided on 23.3.2011 (Annexure P-11). He contends that in the light of the Division Bench judgment of this Court, petitioners have served a legal notice dated 13.2.2013 (Annexure P-12) to the respondents, but no decision thereon, till date, has been taken or conveyed to the petitioners.

Counsel contends that the petitioners, at this stage, would

be satisfied if a direction is issued to the Director General of Police, Punjab-respondent No.2 to consider and decide the legal notice dated 13.2.2013 (Annexure P-12) within some specified time.

In view of the statement made by the counsel for the petitioners and without going into the merit of the case or commenting thereon, the present writ petition is disposed of with directions to the Director General of Police, Punjab-respondent No.2 to consider and decide the legal notice dated 13.2.2013 (Annexure P-12) within a period of four months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.

In case the claim of the petitioner is not to be accepted, then a well reasoned and speaking order be passed and conveyed to the petitioner forthwith.
