The petitioner who is a Head Constable in the Punjab Police is said to have preferred an appeal on 27.10.2004 against the order whereby he was reverted from the rank of ASI to Head Constable. It is alleged that the afore-stated appeal has not been decided so far.
Having heard learned counsel for the petitioner and considering the nature of relief sought but without expressing any views on the merits of the case, I deem it appropriate to dispose of the same with a direction to respondent No. 1 to dispose of the aforestated appeal filed by the petitioner as expeditiously as possible and preferably within six months from the date a certified copy of this order is received.
