The petitioner, who is currently working on the post of Master in the Department of School Education, State of Punjab is aggrieved of the action of respondent/authorities in terms of issuance of promotion order dated 02.04.2012 (Annexure P-4), whereby, 190 officials junior to him have been promoted to the post of Head Masters/Head Mistresses. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner contends that in the seniority list of Master, the name of the petitioner is reflected at seniority No.11724-A, whereas, in the order dated 02.04.2012 (Annexure P-4), all the 190 officials are junior to the petitioner. It is further submitted that he has been denied the benefit of promotion to a higher post inspite of the recommendation in this regard having been made in his favour. Learned counsel further submits that the petitioner is due to retire on 31.07.2012 upon attaining the age of superannuation. Even a legal notice dated 30.04.2012 (Annexure P-7) having been served upon the respondent/authorities has invoked no response.

the submissions made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, I deem it appropriate to dispose of the present petition in terms of directing the respondent/authorities to consider the claim of the petitioner and decide the legal notice dated 30.04.2012 (Annexure P-7) within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.
