(1). Notice of motion. Ms. Charu Tuli, learned Sr. DAG, Punjab, who is present in Court, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State. Keeping in view the nature of order which I propose to pass, there is no need to call upon the respondents to file their counter-affidavit at this stage.
(2). The petitioner joined the Police Department as ASI on 02.02.1990. He was promoted as Sub Inspector on 31.12.1998. The petitioner was further promoted to the post of Inspector w.e.f. 05.01.2010. The petitioner is now aggrieved at his

placement in the joint seniority list, whereby, he has been allegedly placed below his juniors. The petitioner avers that at the time when he joined the service he was at merit No.42 and persons lower in merit have now become his seniors. Having heard learned counsel for the parties and keeping in view the fact that the claim put forth by the petitioner can be well appreciated on ascertaining the correct facts and the records, I deem it appropriate to dispose of this writ petition with a direction to the Officers’ Committee constituted by this Court vide order dated March 4, 2010 passed in CWP No.566 of 2010 (Ranjit
Singh and others v. State of Punjab and others) to redress the petitioner’s grievance in a fair and transparent manner within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order. Needless to say that if the Committee finds the petitioner’s grievance well merited, necessary corrections shall be carried out in the joint seniority list forthwith. (4). Ordered accordingly.
