This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to renew and reissue the passport bearing Passport No. S6986934 of the petitioner's adoptive daughter, with correction of her name as "Subiksha Josephstalin Nadar" and her father's name as "Josephstalin Nadar", by considering Application No. MD2075758878725, within such time as may be fixed by this Court.

Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner's adoptive daughter had applied for renewal and reissue of her passport with correction of her name and her father's name. According to the learned counsel, though the application was submitted before the respondent, the same has not been considered. Hence, the petitioner has approached this Court seeking the aforesaid relief.

4.The learned Central Government Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent submitted that the petitioner's application had already been closed since the adoption order and other supporting documents evidencing the adoption of the petitioner's adoptive daughter were not produced. The learned Standing Counsel further submitted that, if liberty is granted by this Court, the petitioner may submit a fresh application enclosing the adoption order and all other relevant supporting documents, and the same would be considered on its own merits and in accordance with

5.Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's claim, this Writ Petition is disposed of by granting liberty to the petitioner to submit a fresh application, together with the adoption order and all other relevant supporting documents, before the respondent within a period of one (1) week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. On receipt of such application along with the requisite documents, the respondent is directed to consider the same on its own merits and in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, if necessary, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of four (4) weeks thereafter. There shall be no order as to costs.
