The defacto complainant/respondent herein, with a grievance that

though his complaint has been registered in Cr.No.6 of 2022 in year 2022, the Police has not yet completed the investigation, has filed a petition before this Court, in Crl.O.P.(MD)No.20383 of 2025.

This Court, by its order dated 20.11.2025 in Crl.O.P.(MD)No. 20383 of 2025, directed the respondent Police to complete the investigation and file the final report within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of the order. Now, the prosecution has filed this petition seeking extension of time to complete the investigation and to file the final report.

Today, when this petition is taken up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) submits that the investigation has been completed and a request for sanction has been made to the concerned authorities on 03.06.2026 and they are awaiting for sanction for prosecuting the accused. According to the learned Government

Advocate, 19 officers have been arrayed as accused and the necessary sanction orders have to be obtained against them. Therefore, he requests for six months' time for filing the final report.

The case in Cr.No.6 of 2022 was registered in the year 2022. Now, the prosecution appears to have completed the investigation and made a request for sanction on 03.06.2026. In these circumstances, this Court is of the view that no further time is required for filing the final report. However, the sanctioning authority is expected to provide sanction within three months.
