This writ petition has been filed, seeking a writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent to take effective steps for illegal quarrying of red sands at A.Kovilpatti Village, Vadipatti Taluk, Madurai District.

When the matter was taken up for hearing, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 to 6 drew the attention of this Court to the Paragraph No.8 of the counter affidavit, wherein it has been stated that the respondents had already identified the illegal quarrying operation and had also taken necessary action against the persons responsible for the said illegal quarrying operation by imposing penalty as provided under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 as well as Tamil Nadu Minor Minerals Concession Rules, 1959.

In view of the above, this writ petition is closed. No costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed. Sd/-
