JUDGMENT

The petitioner is the owner of a stage carriage bearing registration No.KL-13-N-8270. According to the petitioner, the vehicle could not be operated for quite some time and hence tax could not be paid for the period from 01.07.2021 to 30.06.2022. The prayer in the writ petition is to permit the petitioner to pay off the arrears of tax for the period from 01.07.2021 to 30.06.2022 in respect of the aforesaid vehicle in easy monthly instalments.

In similar circumstances, this Court had in W.P(C).No.4537/2023, granted relief of equated monthly instalments for clearing the arrears of motor vehicle tax. I do not find any reason to take a different view.

There will hence be a direction to the respondent to accept motor vehicle tax arrears in respect of stage carriage bearing registration No. KL-13-N-8270 in six equal monthly instalments, the first instalment becoming due on or before 15.03.2023 and the subsequent instalments becoming due on or before 15^th of the succeeding months. If the petitioner commits default in payment of

any one of the aforesaid instalments, the benefit granted under this

judgment will not be available to the petitioner.

The writ petition is disposed of as above.
