A case was registered based on a complaint lodged by the father of the missing girl, at Vechoochira Police Station on 23.3.2018, as Crime No.201 of 2018. According to the petitioner, a neighbour had seen the missing girl sitting in the verandha of the house at 9.00 am on 22.3.2018. She told to the neighbour that she is going to her aunt's house. The driver of an Autorickshaw in which the missing girl had travelled on that day, reported that she was dropped at Mukkuttuthara junction. A classmate of Jesna Maria had seen her alighting from a Bus at Erumeli. According to the petitioner, there was nothing unusual in the behaviour of Ms.Jesna Maria on the fateful day or on the preceding days. On 26.3.2018, the petitioner's father submitted a representation to the State Police Chief, presumably to intensify the investigation. It was alleged that, despite passage of considerable time, the police have failed to find out the missing girl, which according to the petitioner, is attributable to the inaction on their part in not making any immediate enquries on reporting about the missing of the girl.
