J U D G M E N T

The prayers in this writ petition are as follows:

“i. To call for the records leading to Ext.P8 letter and issue a writ of certiorari or any other appropriate writ or order quashing the same.

¶27

ii. To declare that the petitioner is entitled to be considered for admission to the M.F.Sc programme under the respondents in the Sports Quota in terms of Ext.P6 norms.

iii. To issue a writ of mandamus or any other writ or order or direction commanding the respondents to admit the petitioner to the M.F.Sc. Programme.”

Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and

the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent University.

The contention of the petitioner is that she was entitled to be granted grace marks for the participation in Sports events which was not taken note of while rejecting her application for admission for the M.F.Sc course conducted by the first respondent University.

A counter affidavit has been filed on behalf of the respondent University contending that according to the qualification prescribed for admission in M.F.Sc Course, the

candidates must secure Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of 6.5 in the B.F.Sc Course. It is stated that the petitioner had secured less than the minimum required Overall Grade Point Average and therefore her application for admission had been rejected. The petitioner had applied for admission under the muslim reservation quota and she was provisionally enrolled. However, thereafter, the University found that relaxation of minimum marks is applicable only to candidates who belonged to SC/ST communities and that the petitioner was not entitled to the said relaxation. It is stated that no person having OGPA of less than 6.5, has been granted admission to the M.F.Sc Course. In the above factual situation, I find no illegality in the rejection of the application of the petitioner for admission in the M.F.Sc Course.

In the result, the writ petition fails and the same is accordingly dismissed.
