Heard Mr. AR Bhuyan, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr. JK Goswami, learned standing counsel for the respondent APDCL.

The father of the petitioner Jyotish Barman who was working as a Meter Reader Grade-III in the office of the Executive Engineer, Kokrajhar Electrical Circle of APDCL, died in harness on 16.02.2014 and on his death, the petitioner submitted an application for compassionate appointment on 13.03.2014. The limited grievance raised in this writ petition is that the said application of the petitioner has not been given a due consideration by the respondents. It is stated that the APDCL for the purpose of compassionate appointment have their own scheme.

In the circumstance, we direct the Executive Engineer, Kokrajhar Electrical Circle, Kokrajhar APDCL to place the application of the petitioner for compassionate appointment made on 13.03.2014 before the appropriate authority in the APDCL which is authorized to consider such application and upon the application being placed, the authorized authority will give a due consideration to it and pass a reasoned order as per law. It is stated that there is a Selection Committee for the purpose. If it is so, the application be placed before the Selection Committee.

The writ petition is disposed of in the above manner.
