Petitioners are serving as Assistant Teachers in different High Schools in Lakhimpur District, Assam. By the present writ petition, the petitioners are praying for a direction to the respondents for provincialisation of their services in their respective schools.

The State Respondents have enacted the Assam Education (Provincialisation of Services of Teachers and Reorganization of Educational Institutions) Act, 2017 ( hereinafter referred to in short ‘ the Act of 2017’).

Considering the above, the petitioners are directed to file separate representations before the Director of Secondary Education, Assam/Respondent No.2 for consideration of their cases for provincialisation if they are legally entitled in terms of the Act of 2017. Let such representation be filed by the petitioners within two weeks from today. Thereafter, on receipt of the representation, the Director of Secondary Education, Assam shall consider the cases of the petitioners and, thereafter, pass reasoned order(s) in accordance with law within a period of two months with effect from the date of receipt of such representation.

With the above observation and direction, this writ petition stands disposed of.
