Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner prays for expeditious disposal of G.R. Case No.1194 of 2003 pending before the Learned Judicial Magistrate, 2^nd Court, Hooghly (Sadar). The records of the case reflect that the case was initiated in the year 2003 and, as such, it can be presumed that the same is pending for about 19 years. It was at the instance of the petitioner that the criminal case was set into motion. Naturally, the outcome or fate of the case has some impact on the petitioner.

Mrs. Debjani Sahu, learned advocate who ordinarily appears on behalf of the State is directed to represent the State. Her appointment may be regularized by the concerned authorities.

It is directed henceforth that on and from 1^st February, 2023, the learned Trial Court will fix date once in every fortnight so that the trial of the case can be taken to its logical conclusion within a reasonable period of time. It is further directed that in case any witness is absent all efforts must be taken through the Officer-in-Charge of the concerned police station so that the witness may be compelled to appear before the Court.
