This application has been sent by the applicant from jail praying that either he be released on bail or the hearing of the appeal be expedited. He has also prayed that he may be permitted to argue his appeal in person.

With the assistance of Mr. Toraskar, learned counsel appointed for the applicant from the Legal Aid Panel to represent the applicant and the learned APP. We find that there is a strong prima facie case against the applicant and, therefore, we are not inclined to allow the applicant and suspend the substantive sentence of imprisonment.

We accordingly dismiss this application so far the prayer for bail is concerned.

Since we have already expedite the hearing in the companion appeal, we allow this application to the limited extent of expediting the hearing of the appeal.

At the time of hearing of the appeal, notice may be issued to the applicant/appellant regarding the date of hearing of the appeal so that the applicant/appellant can argue the appeal in person.
