By this petition, the petitioners seek a declaration that the petitioners are entitled to continue in the post on which they are working on regular basis.
Though this court had granted rule in the petition on 23.3.2000, no interim relief was granted in favour of the petitioners. It appears on a perusal of the documents annexed to the petition that the petitioners were appointed temporarily on honorarium for a period of four to six months from time to time. It appears that proper selection procedure was not followed before temporarily appointing the petitioners on the post of Assistant Teachers from time to time. The declaration sought by the petitioners cannot be granted, as there is nothing on record to show that the petitioners were appointed after following the due procedure for selection and appointment and the appointment orders clearly show that the petitioners were

appointed temporarily for a short period from time to time, on honorarium.
Since there is no merit in the writ petition, the same is dismissed with no order as to costs.
