Taking cognizance of the communication dated 20th July, 2011 addressed by Disability Rights Association of Goa, a registered charitable society recognised by the Government of Goa, present Public Interest Litigation Writ Petition was registered. The grievance made by the petitioner is that the disabled in Goa are facing hardship when they travel by auto-rickshaws and taxis in Goa as the auto-rickshaws and taxis do not follow the meter system. It is further the grievance of the petitioner that despite bringing this matter to the notice of the Director of Transport and other Government Authorities, no action has been taken. Advocate R. Menezes was appointed Amicus Curiae.

After having discussed the matter with the President of Association, Mr. Menezes, learned Amicus Curiae and Mr. Rodrigues, learned Additional Government Advocate appearing for

the respondents have drawn the draft minutes of order in terms of which, the petition can be disposed of. According to Mr. Menezes, the terms of the minutes of order have been agreed to by the President of Disability Rights Association of Goa and the same would protect the interest of the disabled in Goa.

The draft minutes of order are taken on record and marked 'X' for identification purpose. Having perused the terms of the minutes of the order, we are satisfied that the same substantially meet the grievances of the petitioner and as such, the petition deserves to be disposed of in terms of the minutes of order. Hence, Writ Petition stands disposed of accordingly.

We would like to place on record a word of appreciation to Mr. R. Menezes, who has been appointed Amicus Curiae for having rendered valuable assistance in disposal of this writ Petition.
