This is an application for bail by a
person who has been in custody for about three
years. The learned counsel for the applicant
submits that the applicant will withdraw the
application if the trial Court is directed to
finish off the trial within a period of six
months. I do not know whether the trial Judge
would be in a position to finish off the trial
within six months since the pendency of other
cases of under-trial prisoners before the trial
Court is not known to me, but the trial Court
may take up the case of the applicant for
hearing according to its own turn having regard

to older cases of under-trial prisoners before
him and shall hear the case on a day-to-day
basis and finish it as far as possible within a
period of one year. The learned Judge should
ensure that no case of an under-trial prisoner
which is filed after the case of the present
applicant is taken up for hearing before the
case of the applicant is touched. With these
observations the application is disposed of as
withdrawn.
