Heard learned counsel for the petitioners and Sri Prabhas Kumar Tiwari, learned Additional Chief Standing Counsel for the State-respondents.

It is submitted by the learned counsel for the petitioners that both petitioners are major and solemnized their marriage on 20.01.2026. Petitioner no. 1 is a Muslim by religion and has filed an application for conversion of her religion before the District Magistrate, Bareilly, on 20.01.2025, which is still pending. The petitioners have apprehension of life threat from the respondent no.4.

On the other hand, the learned Additional Chief Standing Counsel submitted that the application dated 20.01.2026 was not filed in the proper format, and it needs to be ascertained whether any such application is pending before the District Magistrate. He prays for and is granted two weeks' time to enable him to obtain instructions in the matter.

Put up this case on 26.02.2026 as fresh.

Till the next date of listing, respondent no.2, Senior Superintendent of Police, Bareilly is directed to ensure that no harassment is made to the petitioners at the behest of respondent no. 4 and his family members.
