Allahabad High Court (Manju Rani Chauhan, J.), Writ-A No. 5896 of 2026, Sangeeta Kumari v. State of U.P. and 4 others (interim order dated April 24, 2026): The Court recalled its earlier decision in a bunch of petitions, leading case Arun Pratap Singh and 37 others v. State of U.P. and 4 others (Writ-A No.179 of 2026, decided 17.02.2026), whereby the District Level Committee was directed to look into the petitioners' grievance after updating and uploading authentic information/data on the U-DISE portal. That order is under challenge in Special Appeal No.398 of 2026 (Saurabh Kumar Singh and 6 others v. State of U.P. and 5 others), wherein time was granted to the authorities to update the data and status quo was directed to be maintained meanwhile. Observing that the impugned order contained no consideration of the observations in Arun Pratap Singh (supra) and that the grounds taken in the petitioner's representation were not looked into, the Court granted learned counsel for the respondent-BSA a week's time to obtain instructions, directed the parties to maintain status quo as on date till the next date of listing, and posted the matter fresh for 06.05.2026.

Heard learned counsel for the petitioner, Mr. Udit Chandra, learned counsel for the respondent-BSA and learned Standing Counsel for the State.

This Court had earlier decided the issue in a bunch of petitions, the leading case being Arun Pratap Singh and 37 others v. State of U.P. and 4 others, decided on 17.02.2026 in Writ-A No.179 of 2026, wherein a direction was issued to the District Level Committee to look into the grievance of the petitioners after updating and uploading authentic information/data on the U- DISE portal. The aforesaid order has been challenged by means of filing Special Appeal No.398 of 2026 (Saurabh Kumar Singh and 6 others v. State of U.P. and 5 others), wherein time has been granted to the authorities to update the data and, till then, status quo as on date has been directed to be maintained. Even otherwise, while passing the impugned order, there is no consideration of the observations made in Arun Pratap Singh (supra). Further, even the grounds taken in the representation so filed have not been looked into.

In view of the orders passed in the Special Appeal and the grounds taken by learned counsel for the petitioner, learned counsel for the respondent-BSA prays for and is granted a week's time to obtain instructions in the matter.

Put up as fresh on 06.05.2026.

Till the next date of listing, status quo as on date shall be maintained by the parties.
