Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned Standing counsel for the respondents.

The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking a writ of certiorari to quash the final selection list dated 15.03.2025 related to the Anganwadi Recruitment 2024 in District Sitapur. Additionally, a writ of mandamus has been sought to direct the authorities to consider the petitioner’s candidature for the post of Anganwadi Karyakatri, 2024 for Village Gumta, Fatehpur, Kodari, Block Machhreha, Dhawarpura, District Sitapur, in accordance with the Government Orders dated 16.12.2003 and 21.03.2023.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is a widow, yet her candidature was ignored, and respondent no. 5 was selected in violation of the applicable scheme.

In response, the learned Standing Counsel, referring to written instructions, submits that the recruitment process was conducted as per the procedure outlined in the Government Order dated 21.03.2023.

Clause 3(ga) of the said Government Order specifies that first priority must be given to widowed women from BPL families residing in the same Gram Sabha or urban ward, then to legally divorced or deserted women from BPL families in the same

area, and if no such candidates are available, to any woman from a BPL family residing in the same area.

As no eligible candidates were found in the first two categories, respondent no. 5, who belongs to the below poverty line (BPL) category, was given priority and selected under the third category. The petitioner does not fall under the BPL category.

Learned Standing Counsel further submits that the selected candidate, Ravina Devi (respondent no. 5), secured 9.53 marks in the merit list, whereas the petitioner secured only 6.26 marks.

On due consideration to the submission advanced by the learned counsel for the parties and examining clause 3(ga) of the Government Order dated 21.03.2023, the Court finds no illegality in the selection process.

The petition is devoid of merit and is accordingly dismissed .
