Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned Standing Counsel for the State-respondents.

The sole prayer made in the instant writ petition is for a mandamus directing respondent nos.2 and 3 to decide the representation of the petitioner dated 25.11.2021 wherein the petitioner has prayed for a decision being taken on his application for grant of character certificate.

Learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that the petitioner has filed online application for grant of character certificate. He has invited attention of the Court towards application status (page 29 of the writ petition), which reflects that the same is still pending consideration.

Learned Standing Counsel very fairly states that the application of the petitioner will be disposed of expeditiously.

Accordingly, without expressing any opinion on merits of the case, the writ petition is disposed of with direction to respondent nos.2 to pass a speaking order on the application of the petitioner for grant of character certificate expeditiously, preferably, within a period of eight weeks from the date of communication of the instant order alongwith photocopy of the representation dated 25.11.2021.
